So Austin is pretty damn cool, we got here around 8 or so last night after leaving Lafayette around 11 am. Yeah, it was kindof a long day. Day after tomorrow is going to be another long day...It's been really fun so far, I picked up this awesome novelty clock from Toy Joy today. It's a portable digital clock that runs on water with electrolytes in it. So any soda, fruit juice, coffee, or salt water will work. I can't wait to try it out. I also bought a couple things at Waterloo records
Vinyl Steely Dan - Gaucho I'm not particularly a big fan of this record, mostly because I'm not familiar with any of the songs, but i'm sure I'll like it after a few listens. Steely Dan on vinyl is semi rare as far as I'm concerned, I think if I see Can't Buy a Thrill, I'll definitely have to pick it up.
The Postal Service - Give up Yeah this is a new record, but it was relatively cheap considering it's 2 records: the original album and the remixes that people are familliar with (Iron & Wine covering such great heights and The shins covering we will become...). Sub Pop is really good about record packaging and making a vinyl purchase worth it. Not only that the transfers from digital to analog are usually pretty decent, I'll be curious to hear how this one sounds...
Peter Gabriel - MeltI'm not even remotely familiar with any of Peter's work besides Salisbury Hill. I think the idea of pop experimentation is really cool, but I never took the time to download any of his work. We'll see how I like the album but I think even if I hate it, it was only like 2 or 3 bucks. No big loss...
I also got a Waterloo t-shirt. It's white with a blue ringer. Cheap too, 10 bucks...
We saw the flagship Whole Foods store but ended up eating at Hula Hut. EXCELLENT FOOD. Right on the lake, if you're ever in Austin I highly recommend it. I got the Hawaiian fajitas and they were DELICIOUS.
I'm gonna get some sleep, we're picking up Will at 10 tomorrow morning and I want to run on the treadmill again this morning. Oh I also swam a bit this morning before breakfast. Very relaxing...G'night.

The composers this month are: Tiffany Lambert Mike Baldwin Isabel LaSala Dave the Soundman
Artmosphere@9PM, Order TBA...check it out!
I'm humbled that I've been chosen to compose twice in a row, it was a fluke though, I was supposed to a player but the chosen composer had work and had to bail..so Dave randomly flipped the names and I came out on top..The players in my group are as follows:
Todd Fredrick *wink wink* - Guitar Chad Mathews - Guitar Darron Wood - Drums
I'll be playing bass, and probably throwing in some vocals to spice it up. One of rules is "must sing about platypus" and another is "three screams"..the others you'll just have to come to the show to find out.
Back to the music =)

I miss this so much. I'd give anything for another season with these guys. Best 4 falls of my life thusfar. Thanks guys, I love y'all so much and can't wait to see the new stuff.

I wrote that last night but forgot to post...LJ's autosave is pretty neat.
Just got back from work, and then after coming home and changing shirts bringing John Michael, Shayla, Kirby, Breanne, and Jacque to lunch (yes I know that's more people than I have seats to my car, Kirbs was in the back back). It was nice to catch up with them and see how it's going so far. I'm really proud of them, it sounds like they're all doing an awesome job to keep the traditions alive, and even make new ones.
I'll probably go back later today to check out the field part of the day, but they probably aren't tackling much, maybe a little drill but not a whole lot of music.
mm. later.

Right now I'm waiting for Mr. Ryan Sinitere, We're going to Blue Bayou tomorrrow...rain or shine...hellz yeah. Pink Floyd's Pulse finally comes out on DVD tuesday. Jeez. It's been too long... Friday I'll be in The Woodlands for the Michael McDonald/Steely Dan Concert It was my dad's father's day present. Of course I thought of it....Who else thinks of concerts in this house? The Books = amazing. Saw the ACL/Voodoo fest Lineup today. Super pumped. Not sure which one I'm going to yet, but leaning towards voodoo because it's helluva lot closer. And I'm already going to Austin for PASIC. Walker came in for coffee today. How random is that. I was working bar. Good stuff. Polaroids = love. Not sure if I mentioned it on here, talked to Jack a couple days ago, he's in San Francisco with Boone right now on their senior trip. Lucky. Mickey just got back from Italy night before last, so I'll see him soon and find out how that was. ITALY WON THE WORLD CUP. i was hoping they would after france beat portugal then again so did germany Italians are the best. Fa sho. Food, culture, mafia, art, you know it.
Alright Ryan just called, he's on his way. Laterz.

how i love thee.
best quote of the night? "FREEBIRD!"
and who contributed that rule? oh yeah...ME BITCHES! haha and virtually no one knew and my bass tone BLEW like chunks over everything because that other bassist didn't set up his ampeg early bastard. Leaving me with my pathetic little Peavey guitar practice amp. Blah. Other than that, we executed it damn near perfect. Chad forgot to play percussion during one part, but the melody between phillipe and I stayed strong and Dave held it down on the congas/tambourine and Brooke sounded pretty darn good. and I've said and more than 3 billion times. All my little high schoolers were dere! (Lizzie, Collin, Katherine, Nick, Stiner, Breanne, Hal, Malorie, Camille, etc.) and some alumni too! (Racy, Alex, Lexy, Sarah, Isabel [of course], taylor g, nick, will henderson (wtf mate?!) mhmm fuck I gotta open tomorrow. see you bitches later.

| UL! |
[28 Jun 2006|09:00pm] |
So yeah I'm 99% scheduled (they wouldn't let me schedule private lessons, that doesn't open till about a week before classes start) yesss got my cajun card, spirit shirt, bulletin, "newspaper", seat cushion, a little more knowledge of UL before I started... and oh yeah. TOPS. That's right bitches, it came in the mail TODAY. Joy! And my second residence is officialy Angelle Hall as of August 21st, 2006. Schedule to be posted later (most likely friends only because i will be putting times and stuff) most of you are still in HS though...or not at UL so like it matters..but at least you'll know where I am! sorta...
So yeah Orientation was a lot of stuff. I actually had a little fun, people should stop bitching about it and try to have a good time. It's really not that bad, you get in, get what you need, and get on with life. I have plenty of stuff to look over before I start in August, so I'll feel a little more prepared...Took the theory test cold, no studying. Passed. hell yes. And I must say my schedule is pretty nice because the earliest class I have is 10 am on wednesday. And Friday, no classes. Soooo yeah.
"you don't know how it feels...no you don't know how it feels..to be meeeeeee" - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers I've been blaring that song for days, it's all Matt Rock's fault. And half of the powerboxx.
wow i spaced out and did some other stuff online its now 9:21 and I have work at 5 am. So i'll be on my way...ta ta!

[28 Jun 2006|07:26am] |
So I woke up on my own a few minutes ago. bright and early. 6 am. wtf. I've discovered that I really like the water. Swimming, taking a bath, I just feel much better about everything during and after. and UL has an aquatic center! so that works! I get my cajun card today (w00t!) one more day of orrientation and my classes will scheduled and I can sleep a little easier. Thursday and Friday I have to open though = / Oh well. I didn't really meet any new people yesterday. Except for the Discussion group leader/ College of the arts guide Julia. Pretty cool chick. I CALLED AND GOT IN TOUCH WITH TIMPZILLA! she was on the road (literally) in some sort of underground tunnel on the east coast. Her birthday is tomorrow. It was so cool to hear from her.
I thought I lost this entry but LJ saved it for me..yay! effin sweet.
how are you guys doing? good summer I hope. I miss all yall, please come hang out with me soon! liekomgzk?

some days, i wonder why i even leave the house or roll out of bed.
and it's not like anything bad happened today I just feel incomplete and quiet. There's nothing I have to say about anything unless I'm prodded, and there just doesn't seem like a whole lot is going on. I'm tired of that. I'm finding that if I'm not doing something that i enjoy i'm bored or agitated.
help.
